Boyd is a purebred Beagle registered with the American Rabbit Hound Association as "Boyd Atticus." He was 7 years old on May 26th 2005. I have had Boyd since he was six weeks old (around July 4th 1998.) Boyd started out as a farm dog, roaming free and hunting on his own. He loved to ride the four-wheeler and go for rides in the car. Boyd is the smaller (10") breed of beagle and is black and tan (or better known as "red.") Now we live in Wyanet and have been here since fall of 2000, when Boyd was 2 years old. Boyd has adjusted well to house life and seems to like it in town. He does not EVER run free, except when he tries to sneak off his tie out or bolt for the door, because he ALWAYS finds a scent and with his nose to the ground, the rest of him pays no attention to dangers around him. Fortunately He has always been returned home safely with the help of neighbors and various kids on bicycles (now THEY know how to organize a search party!) Boyd's favorite activities are sniffing, howling, playing, sleeping, chewing, and performing tricks for treats. He loves his babies (stuffed animals with fuzzy squirrel tails) and will lie on a bed or in a chair all afternoon and night if left undisturbed. He despises Frisbees and balls, but give him a baby & he will fetch until he gets worn out. Boyd can shake with both paws, give you a high 5 or 10, speak on command, catch treats or food when tossed, lie down, and roll over. Boyd is a very friendly dog and only barks at birds, squirrels, cats and rabbits. With the initial help of a shock collar he does not bark or howl in town- unless he sees a new potential guest. And then it's the "here I am, let me out" bark. He does not EVER bite and is excellent with kids and adults alike. He can generally be left in the house alone for several hours without problems... (Barring Chicken bones or chocolate pies in the garbage.) Check Here for Pictures of Boyd... In Early spring of 2003, my lifelong friend Carrie got moved from Texas and stationed at Osan Air Force Base in South Korea. Carrie has two beagles, named Molly and Maggie Brown. Carrie didn't want to take her beagles to Korea, it just wasn't feasible! So Molly Brown came to town. Maggie stayed with Carrie's mom and Molly lived with us for 1.5 years. Then in February of 2005, We adopted Hadley the Hound, aka "H" or "H Train." Hadley and Boyd have become buddies, playing and barking, tearing up babies all over the house. See the NEW ADDITION page for pictures of Hadley.
