How to determine your monitor resolution- and change it! |
Some of you may not even know what monitor resolution is, but the "new wave" is moving away from 800x600 as newer, larger monitors have more screen real estate. Most new monitors are best at a resolution of at least 1024 x 768. My monitor operates at 1280 x 1024. Changing your screen resolution from 800 x 600 to a higher resolution may significantly increase your ability to view websites. Unless you have a SERIOUS Eyesight problem, 1024 x 768 resolution is manageable on screens as small as 13". I even use this resolution on my laptop. Here's how to see what your screen resolution is curently set to, and how to change it! Right Click anywhere on an unused area of your desktop (not on a toolbar, start button, or icon) and choose properties. A window with many tabs will show up. The window is titled Display Properties. Click on the Settings tab and look for the area labeled Screen Resolution. Drag the arrow from LESS to MORE. This will increase your resolution. Try 1024 x 768. Choose OK to change your resolution. You may get a message asking if you would like to test this new resolution. Click Okay. Once you have changed your resolution, try viewing different websites, such as this one, and see the difference that a higher resolution makes! It's the way technology is going, don't be left behind! |
